Stephen Gilligan, Ph.D., is a Psychologist in Encinitas, CA. He was one of the original NLP students at UC Santa Cruz; Milton Erickson and Gregory Bateson were his mentors. After receiving his psychology doctorate from Stanford University, he became one of the premier teachers and practitioners of Ericksonian hypnotherapy. He has published extensively, and his 7 books include the classic “Therapeutic trances,” “The courage to love,” “The legacy of Erickson,” and the recent “Walking in two worlds” (w. D. Simon). His work incorporates Ericksonian hypnosis, Self Relations psychotherapy, aikido, Buddhism, and performance arts.

July 20-24:
“Trance Intensive and the Return of the Hero into the Community: ”
With Dr. Gilligan Ph.d.,

This special intensive group is limited to 25 participants interested in deep explorations of generative trance and change. IN terms of the Hero’s Journey, the focus is on how to integrate changes made in trance into a person’s external world, i.e., the interface of the inner and outer worlds. The basic format is intensive pieces of work done in the middle of the group, with Dr. Gilligan guiding people in how to enter trance states for generative change. Participants will experience and learn how self-hypnotic processes can be used at every step of the way in bringing one’s self into the world with full presence and skillfulness. Trance as well as other intensive experiential-symbolic processes (e.g., self-relations) are central. These groups are legendary in terms of their capacity to nurture and awaken the deeper presence within participants.
