Hypnotic Healing States:
When Buddha, Freud, and Milton Erickson Talk:
Explorations in Generative Consciousness and Change
with Stephen Gilligan, Ph.D.

It has been suggested that one of the most interesting conversations of our time is between Freud and Buddha; that is, the Western emphasis on personal development and therapy as a path for happiness, and the Eastern emphasis on spiritual and mindbody traditions that allow higher consciousness beyond ego identification.

Healing and Hypnosis

A third approach is the hypnotic healing states pioneered by Milton Erickson, further developed by Dr. Gilligan in his Generative Self work. This work integrates Eastern and Western approaches, utilizing both personal development and mindbody techniques at the same time. Explorations in generative consciousness and change explore a model for integrating these different approaches into a unitary model that suggests when and how to ìgo beyondî the problem, when and how to ìwork throughî (i.e. transform) the problem, and when and how to use both in a complementary manner. This training will focus on personal transformation as the basic for professional effectiveness, so that you will explore how to work with both yourself and others.

Some topics that we will explore:
--Effective methods for quieting and expanding the mind;
--Practical strategies for transforming problems into resources
--Techniques for developing higher states of consciousness, beyond problems and obstacles;
--Ways to connect your individual consciousness to a collective ìcreative unconsciousî
--Strategies for transforming negative patterns (addictions, depressions, and anxieties) and healing wounds (traumas and negative conditioning)
--Cultivating the ground for Generative Self: dissolving fixed identity, experiencing deep trance, and creating experiences and results that have never existed before. ;
--Aikido, Milton Ericksonís Ericksonian hypnosis, Buddhist psychological techniques, and other generative strategies for effectively transforming attacks, negative energy, and traumatic invasions.

This course is for individuals sincerely interested in exploring how to develop generative change in self, other, and the world at large. It is a deep exploration of how reality is created via various ìcreative unconsciousî processes, and how such realities may be transformed and improved. The main emphasis is on how to respectfully tap into the amazing creativity that is within each of us, and utilize this creativity in positive ways. You will find this training relaxing, invigoration, transforming, and integrative. Come and learn from one of the masters.
