CIMA Generative Trance Basic Certification
Generative Trance illuminates the neuro-plasticity of consciousness, showing how in the mind, you can go anywhere from anywhere, anything can turn into anything. Any part of consciousness—a memory, a relationship, a symptom, an emotion, a habit—can transform into something quite extraordinary. To quote John Lily: "In the province of the mind, there are no limits."
This is the work Dr. Gilligan has been doing for over 50 years, as a psychotherapist, trainer, coach, and researcher. Inspired by his teacher, Dr. Milton Erickson, Dr. Gilligan developed generative trance as a set of practical methods to creatively engage each moment as an opening into infinite possibilities of change and development. The method is designed to be both disciplined and flowing, a mosaic of generative principles to become a master magician.
Certification Requirements
*The video recording will be made available to all certification candidates after 2/17/24. If prior to the live seminar date (2/17/24), the certification candidate has attended a 12-day Generative Trace/Trance Camp Workshop (#2), and has completed submitting 10 client session feedback forms (#3), then the Certification Candidate has the option of attending the 1-Day Introduction to Integral Mind and Action live webinar free of charge.
Training for Advanced Certification in Generative Trance is now being offered through the third week of the San Diego Trance Camp. Advanced certification will be awarded with the completion of this course accompanied by successful completion of Basic Certification. The Basic certification course work is offered in Weeks 1 & 2 of Trance Camp, with Week 3 providing the Advanced Certification course work.
CIMA Creative Mind Basic Certification
Creative Mind is the work that Dr. Gilligan more recently developed in response to the multiple global irruptions of our time. It sees these ever-growing pathologies as reflecting deep dissociation of the isolated ego from nature, ancestors, the spirit world, and cross-ideological commonalities. It articulates a generative set of methods, applicable at both individual and collective levels, to form a creative mind that thinks and acts within the unbroken wholeness of life.

CIMA Hero's Journey Basic Certification
The Hero's Journey is the underlying story that the American Mythologist Joseph Campbell found present in every culture across time. It is the story wherein a person feels and follows a life calling to heal some deep brokenness...first in one's self and then in the world as a whole. This was an integral part of Dr. Gilligan's earlier work. Its current renewal sees the deepest schism being the dissociation of the human mind from nature (non-verbal) consciousness, and the image of the "hero" as mmoving from a courageous male who single-handedly defeats evil to a collective community that restores the deeper wholeness of mind and nature, thereby supplanting ego-isolation with eco-integral wholeness.

CIMA Generative Coaching Basic Certification
Generative Coaching is a complementary method that Dr. Gilligan developed with his long-time associate, Robert Dilts. It is focused on identifying specific goals and external realities, and then sequences integral versions of a step-by-step process: 1) opening to an integral field, 2) attuning to a positive intention, 3) connecting to a network of resources, 4) identifying actionable plans, 5) transforming obstacles, and 6) developing sustainable practices.
Certification Requirements
Generative Trance Basic Certification is granted through the International Association of Generative Change (IAGC) -- the joint organization developed by Stephen Gilligan, Ph.D. and Robert Dilts. People who want to receive CIMA Certification in Generative Coaching can do so by completing the CIMA 1-Day Introduction to Integral Mind & Action and the 4-Day Generative Coaching module. This 4-day CIMA Generative Coaching module can be taken instead of the IAGC Module 1.
3) Completion of all exercises and check-ins with study groups as assigned by IAGC and/or CIMA.
2) Attendance at and successful completion of a 16-Day* Generative Coaching Course offered through the International Association for Generative Change (IAGC).
*Certification requires 16 days of workshop and/or course attendance. Only 4 of these days can be completed through CIMA; the remaining necessary course work will need to be completed through the International Association for Generative Change (IAGC).
